Jan Peter Schmolck is a much sought after chamber musician who has performed in over twenty countries. He is a member of the Angell Trio, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble and regular guest violinist with the Schubert Ensemble of London. With these ensembles Jan has undertaken regular tours to the States, playing in many of the major cities, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, as well as touring throughout Europe and Japan. He has broadcast for many American networks, French and Swiss radio as well as most German radio stations and has appeared on NHK-TV, Japan. 

In the UK, Jan’s chamber music performances have included visits to the Cheltenham, Bath, Lichfield and Belfast Festivals as well as regular concerts at the South Bank Centre and Wigmore Hall. The Strad magazine described one of Jan’s Wigmore Hall performances as "stunning playing, dancing away with great panache and drama."

Recent solo performances include the Schnittke Double Concerto with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields at the Barbican Centre and a broadcast for French Radio of duo sonatas with Kenneth Sillito from the Chatelet, Paris. Jan has also recently performed the Vivaldi Four Seasons and the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with the Orchestra of St. John’s.

Jan is regularly invited to lead many orchestras in the UK, including Britten Sinfonia, Orchestra of St. John’s as well as the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Jan has also always been intensely involved in music education, firstly through the Trio residencies at Radley College and the University of Essex as well as teaching at the Junior Guildhall, and coaching at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and at Pro Corda.
